Private research on tailgating first in Australia and likely in the World
http://roadsafetyunofficial.wordpress.com/my-research-on-tailgating/
Government does everything to improve road safety, right?
It is healthy to think this way but unfortunately government does the opposite. As the website (link above) explains, the government not only never have done such research to find the facts, but one refuses to acknowledge my research in order to evaluate current situation and to improve my method and continue to monitor the road situation.
To encourage reader to visit the above comprehensive page where are all the details, let me bring a short story of why I did this research.
Being a road safety campaigner, it become apparent that police officers claiming 15 or more years of experience on the road and other officials claiming that they know what is going on on the roads and their relentless rejection of my claim that roads are alarmingly becoming dangerous. When I requested a specific information and even numbers, one by one had no answer and pointed finger to the office which definitely does have. So police department have no real figures, transport department no information, minister for safety nor transport no information and finally Adelaide Uni research uni must have according to pointing fingers. I contacted them and was surprised that Mary Lydon the head of research unit sent me stack of publications of her unit. Among them there was paper on tailgating. I took just this paper and upon browsing I still could not find any real life information other than just what I call a gossip. I did ask the very researcher where are the figures, and he admitted that nobody ever done research on tailgating.
You would possibly think as I did - it must be very expensive and difficult to make such a research. But I took a while and thought I would I try to find out the facts. It took me surprisingly very short time in a moment of inspiration and the simple and precise method was conceived. I tried and got instant results. Repeated and got more data and a pattern started to emerge.
It is alarming that about 55 to nearly 100% of all following drivers do tailgate in SA.
This is very serious discovery and tell us instantly that:
a. government has no clue of what is real life situation on road and makes decision out of the thin air. Their decisions are not rational.
b. officials including police officers have no idea what is the road situation
c. in light of the above, there is wide spread corruption and conspiracy against society. They refuse to take preliminary results and pioneered simple and cheap method.
I have to be fair and admit what I've experienced through the years. We do have road safety experts capable of making right advice and decisions but they are not allowed to voice their experience officially. Therefore if society demand politicians to make road safety priority over any other interests, we all will benefit.
Sadly all the media is not interested in the subject. Let me outline the situation.
1. ABC refused to let me to use their high raised building to film traffic on the road down below in fear to upset some politicians. They also refuse to publish my results.
2. Channel 7 Adelaide a technical officer let me to the high place on their building and I made some trials. They however refuse to publish or to take any other part in road safety campaign of their choice. I have to quote the ch7
. From your email you sound like a nightmare to deal with. Please count us out.

First the boss send me univiting and surprise reply and later his journalist invited me. When I replied to her, she remain silent.
3. All other channels of tv like ch9, ch 10 and radio 5AA all refuse to publish or comment.
4. Adelaide University not only refused to publish and acknowledge, they offended me, so Monash University is interested but only in consuming public money. (my interpretation of their meaningless replies) They have no information nor are interested in publishing mine and using it. The Australasian college for road safety also has no information nor is willing to acknowledge mine. They behave well below professional and are offensive, aggressive and absolutely unwilling to cooperate. I interpret it as wide spread corruption.
Thanks to some free media like Altnews we can share, confirm, develop further, debate, and interpret the data and the overall situation.
The research is so cheap and simple yet precise that I encourage school children and individuals to continue and even develop further my method. If scientists, police and ministers refuse to acknowledge reality, let the school children do.
Constructive criticism and debate is welcome.
