Guide to Posting: How to get the most out of your story!

This 'Posting Guide' will assist members of this web site to get the most out of their posts. Please read and consider before you make your next post.
Topic Starters/New Topics
A 'Blog entry' or new 'Forum topic' is often referred as a 'Topic Starter'.
From the menu headed by your user name (on the left), click on 'Blog entry' or 'Forum topic'.
See 'Tags' and 'Posting Options' below for more.
When a the 'Topic' of a Blog or Forum post is of interest, members are encouraged to 'Comment' on or 'Post Reply' to the topic to share their opinion, add further information or give their commentary on the topic. Use the 'Post Reply' button bottom left under the topic starter or under the last comment box.
Comments
Members may 'Reply to' a 'Forum topic' or 'Blog post. Your 'Comment' should be ON TOPIC, ie. with direct reference or in reply to the 'Topic starter' ('Blog post' OR 'Forum topic').
Often people may wish to 'Reply' also to a comment. In that case be careful to choose 'Reply' in the right bottom corner of the box drawn around the comment.
If you feel moved by a post to tell your OWN story, choose to post a 'Blog entry' or 'Forum topic' instead of replying to a post or comment.
Posting Options
For each 'Blog entry' or 'Forum post' you make, you may also:
- Choose an appropriate 'Forum' from the drop down list headed 'Forums' just below the 'Title' field. This is an option for all 'Blog entries'.
- Choose the 'Group' you would wish your post to appear in. Generally you must be a member of the Group. Please be careful to consider any posting guidelines the Group Owner may have published on the Group's Home Page. Group owners may remove inappropriate posts from their Group at the owner's discretion.
TAGS
To further categorise all posts you should also carefully choose two or three TAGS (in the 'Tags' field). TAGS are the main categories that apply to your post like; 'NSW DoCS' or 'Kevin Rudd' or 'Politics' or 'Child abuse'.
Type the first two or three letters of your Tag and wait a few seconds for the web site to load and show you a drop down list of Tags already on the system to choose from or add your own new Tag.
Type a comma and a space before you add your next Tag and again wait for a bit for the web site to show you the Tags it already knows.
Note that phrases and sentences are NOT TAGS and should not be entered as tags. In fact, the web site may have such a hard time trying to list existing tags for you that it will appear as if the form has locked up.
Please practice a bit with the Tags you choose and be prepared to wait a few seconds for the web site to catch up with you.
Photograps and Images in posts
A great way to add interest and colour is to insert a photo or image in your post.
To add images to your posts, first create an 'Album' into which you may then upload your images (Create image). Once you have uploaded the desired images, carefully read the formatting options under the 'Body' field to learn how to insert an image in your post. Click on
Events, Polls or Petitions
Generally the same options are available when you post an 'Event', 'Poll' or 'Petition'.
We'll soon post some more specific 'Guides' to cover the individual topics.
