National Transport Shutdown Update10/07/2008

Hello everyone,
The meeting in Bendigo was well attended and voted to endorse the shutdown, they also added to the list of demands and amended no 16 to clarify the intent of the demand, this was needed badly and thanks to Mal Fraser that was done, also two delegates were elected to promote and represent the State of Victoria They are Darryl Brown, contact Mobile No 0408322868 and Russell Borchard, contact mobile No 0419007815, I thank them for their support, I also ask that each state support their delegates financially, there will be some expense in travel and accommodation when we meet with the Ministers as well as the cost of meetings and printed material, stickers and phone costs.
Also a special thanks to Rick Finning who looked after me on my short stay in Bendigo, Rick organized the meeting and made it the success it was.
The next meeting will be at Wyong next Sunday at the Mingarra Recreation Club at 10am if you are in the area, come along.
The shutdown is now in a good position to be a success, Agiforce Cattle will be supporting us by promoting the trucking industry as an essential service to their industry and will support our demands.
We are however being attacked by the ALDODA group and Peter Schuback who are trying to derail this whole process to promote their own agenda, this is putting doubt in the minds of many as to who is running the shutdown, it is obvious that they are being funded by someone or some other entity, if we fail at this point because of their interference it will be a terrible loss, we need to head these people off at every turn, I never expected the attack to come from within our own ranks, it's not hard to see why Governments don't believe we can pull together.
On a brighter note I spoke to Huhgie Williams on Wednesday and found him to be very approachable and will be meeting with him in the near future, he did indicate that we will have trouble with the ALDODA group, as he has had unpleasant dealings with them before.
With the shutdown just around the corner we need to stay focused and spreading the word.
Until next time
stay safe
Mick Pattel
