Child Protection Week

"Children See, Children Do ... make your influence positive"
Child Protection Week promotes the belief that it is everyone's responsibility to make their community child friendly.
Child Protection Week is coordinated nationally by the National Association for Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and, in Queensland, by the Child Protection Week Committee, comprising representatives from a range of government and non-government agencies concerned with child protection issues.
This year, activity grant funding of up to $1,000 was available. Applications closed on Friday 30 May 2008. For more information, visit the Child Protection Week website.
The Queensland Child Protection Week Committee encourages applications for events that have been designed to positively support the National Child Protection Week theme of "Children See, Children Do ... make your influence positive".
Promoting the value of children and focusing attention on the issues of child abuse and neglect, the objectives of Child Protection Week are to:
- raise the profile of all issues connected with child protection, including child abuse prevention, treatment, research, education, service provision and support for children, young people and families.
- create a state-wide umbrella focus for child protection allowing government and non-government agencies to present a cooperative and coordinated community oriented campaign.
support and value professionals and volunteer child protection workers by providing 'best practice' training and a forum to exchange ideas and information. - offer a framework to recognise advances in the field, and thereby contribute to better outcomes for all children and young people, especially those who have been harmed or are at risk of harm.

To which are we Protecting ?
This Child Protection week, That should be a 24/7 job. ?.
Is it The parent/s Trying to protect from? DOCS(government),Pedos? or is it a recruitment for DOCS to Steal/murder more Kids in this Week ?.
DOCS = Death of children services
DHS = Death of Human Souls

I hear what you say.
Hi,
I hear what you say about the government being under fire if they do or don't. Most of the posters on this site are not the extremely abusing care givers that you are describing. And most of us have witnessed the lies that DChS put out there against parents. In fact I seen a lot of corruption. This is what we are on about.
Then I would go one further - prevention is better than cure. I don't understand why children are left in to endure these extreme outcomes, there should be more intervention to assist the parent. That bit is lacking in the community.
But good on you for being the devil's advocate but I certainly will never be an advocate for the department of child safety in this state of Queensland!
Its interesting to hear that
Its interesting to hear that Dchs workers are "idiots" who maltreat children. not that im defending Dchs workers but to play a more devils advocate. It seems that much emphasis is put these Childnappers from the government, yet we fail to acknowledge the people who have actually abused their children. I have seen a court proceeding where a father was actualy charged with assault occassioning bodily harm towards his child. or what about a case down in Victoria whereby the magistrate returned the childn home ot his parents despite evidence by Dchs informing the horrendous physical abuse perpertated on that said child. Two weeks later the child dies. Government departments seems to be underfire whether they do something or they dont. People are not just not content.
re child safety week
what a crock of s'''' the only way children in this country are going to be safe is get rid of those morons in that dept, and hold accountable the governing body for allowing this disgraceful behaviour to continue.... child abuse prevention week and other information
Hello,
All very nice what you have posted on here. It is very ideal and has a great catch cry to reach out into the community.
I imagine there are some very dedicated and hard working staff there. Good on you. I will go and look up that link. Thanks.
Some of my concerns which are well acknowledged with welfare workers (community health workers, psychologists, social workers, occ. therapists, doctors etc) is that there is very little inter agency stuff with DChS with other organisations be it NGO or other government bodies like Youth Justice, Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol, homeless organisations. DChS have very limited knowledge in these areas of specific knowledge but like to call the shots about 'we'll put it in the case plan that parent remains on an ITO' or we want your organisations to gather weekly (drug screens) urines that must be clean.
They don't work on the same page as other organisations do, they have no idea and go off on a tangent.
I can say as a health professional they are very difficult to work with.
And these people who come out of uni with a 3 year psychology degree can really only get a job in child safety. No other organisation will have them, they must be working towards their registration.
And yet another health professional was heard by me today to say " I'd hate to work there (as in DChS)"
Yep, I would dislike to have that on my CV - it would not look good. The prospective employer would be thinking have I got a bully here applying for a job if they have worked at child safety?
These bull dog dykes do NOT know what they are doing.
I say the above on behalf of all the other health professionals who work in the community, it is out there now.
Can I place a bet on this one... I bet something really bad is going to have to happen before the government steps in. It is just crazy what is going on on a daily basis.
3 year degrees in child physchology
3 year degrees in child physchology? I WISH. My child was assesed by a person with a one year degree in ARTS, evidence that was accepted in court by a magistrate.
In her affidavit she assesd my daughter as having the mental age of a seven year old. My daughter is sixteen.
Three weeks later my daughter passed a grade ten exam on computer programming with a B+.
Not bad for a seven year old mentality.
These people are totally out of whack and need investigating by a Royal Commission. They are causing enormous harm to both families and children and they have NEVER admitted to getting it wrong.
Child Abuse
The greatest threat to children in Queensland is DOCS Department Of Child Safety (stealing)
They lie to the courts, use taken children to intimidate and bully innocent parents and make rules that absolutely go against their own charter with no supervision from their own Minister. Their actions are virtually criminal in many cases and use personel recruited from universities to enforce their ungodly deeds.
They have the greatest turnover of staff of any Government Department, due to many staff members not being able to stomach their disgraceful vendettas and horrific treatment of children in their care. THEY NEED INVESTIGATING.
child protection.
adelaide has the same if not worse problems with families sa they do the exact same thing we need to put up a united front as they are lieing to magistrates ,officials, local mps. there needs to be legistation put in place to stop these criminals.
they are immune from prosectiton why? noone else is above the law why should they be above it
all they do is alledge and accuse and they need no proof to do so. im looking for anyone who has smiliar situations or and is against these organisations families sa ,dhs ,docs .any government child abduction organisation we want what they do illegal we want it so they need sufficent evidence before they can try to steal children.

Welfare proposal creates new pathways for struggling families
Local welfare agency [Insert name of your organisation] is backing calls by NSW peak community services body, the Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies (ACWA), for the establishment of a dedicated regional intake and referral service that will provide local vulnerable families access to quality support services to prevent their problems from spiralling into crisis.
Retired Supreme Court judge, Justice James Wood, recommended the initiative following his year-long inquiry into the state’s troubled child protection system. The proposal has won the approval of ACWA and the NSW non-government community services sector at large.
[Insert name of your organisation] has this week joined the chorus of support.
Insert here a brief profile of your organisation ie: [XYZ] is a respected non-profit community organisation committed to assisting children, young people and families in need. It has been operating in the [Newcastle region] for more than [10] years and employs up to [50] staff.
According to [XYZ] spokesperson, [insert name and title], families in need of assistance and support to help them better care for their children are missing out on vital services because the current system is so heavily focused on the worst cases of abuse and neglect.
“Families at the lower risk end of the spectrum are simply slipping through the net,” [she/he] said.
“More emphasis needs to be placed on providing these families the kind of early intervention programs and support services they need to help them overcome their problems long before the authorities have to step in and remove children from their homes.
“We believe the regional intake and referral service proposed by Justice Wood would achieve just this, because it would create a more balanced system where all children would receive the support and nurturing they need to meet their full potential.”
The regional intake and referral service is just one of the proposals ACWA is supporting as part of its state-wide campaign Child Protection: It’s Time For Action, launched in the wake of the Wood Report to ensure the NSW Government remains firmly committed to child protection reform.
[Insert here details of a case study demonstrating how your organisation’s early intervention services have achieved a positive outcome for a family who may otherwise have been at risk of losing their children removed to child protection authorities.]

[member of parliament personalisation]
Dear [MP Salutation[,
I am writing to you as a member of the community and one of your constituents who is strongly committed to protecting the rights and dignity of children and who wants to see genuine change within NSW’s child protection system.
Firstly, I wish to acknowledge my support of the Government’s five-year plan Keeping Them Safe: A Shared Approach to Child Wellbeing. This package sends a strong message to the community that the Government is committed to improving child protection services in this state and represents a positive step towards achieving better care and better outcomes for the children and families involved in the system.
However, ongoing funding must be made available if this landmark plan is to be translated into real practice. Past attempts at reforming the child protection system have ended in failure. I ask for your support in ensuring this does not become another wasted opportunity. We need to invest now, to create a better future for children and families in NSW.
I urge you to do all you can to make sure the Government commits itself to investing the extensive dollars necessary to implement the reform measures in full, in particular, the costs associated with expanding the capacity of the non-government sector to deliver more on-the-ground services to children and families in their local communities.
Please help us ensure the system receives the changes it so desperately needs. Let’s get it right this time.
If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact either myself, at the address listed below, or XXXXXX XXXXX, Manager of Policy and Membership, at the Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies (ACWA) on 00 0000 0000.
Sincerely,

I removed numbers and name, why? Dunno. But my favourite few words were... wait for it....
"extensive dollars necessary" [and the crowd roars]
Children
No, I have no idea why I pushed reply. For a split second there was a response in my mind for anonymous about how if the children are the priority they should link up with the Foster Care Association but then it quickly occured to me that Organisations supporting the Foster Parents might indeed do their job well but again it still isn't about the kids.
A parents group of "abducted" children are also not focused on the children as the priority.
There is no one for the children is there just groups that think if they get justice or listened to that the children will benefit from THEIR OWN outcomes.
NSW has The Children's Guardian. They accredit NGO's to place children with their caregivers. They do not (I asked them once) help INDIVIDUAL children in distress because of their accredited NGO's. And yes they also are an Non-Government Organisation.
I am guessing (but will ask them) they recieve money for their accreditaion service. So far I have only worked out they are DoCS funded.
So while I have my own concerns in regard to how DoCS do things I have much larger concerns about these companies that profit from children.
But my biggest concern is every single adult I come across is CONCERNED FOR THEMSELVES FIRST. The Parents, The Foster Parents, The NGO's, The Government Departments, Managers, Lawyers, Caseworkers.
The Australian Foster Children have no independant groups focused soley on them to help and support them. No one that can get in to a foster home unannounced and assess the children and how they are doing.
are these dolts normal????
these embiciles encite anarchy......get out of your bloody alice in wonderland world and come see what damage you morons are doing in communities throughout Australia........ its a fire storm on its own.......created by unqualified dolts...how about some accountability and action.
