Send to friendIn an article in the Australian on 14/Oct/2009 entitled Baby in DOCS care 'horrifically' injured in NSW, Opposition community services spokeswoman Pru Goward said "The Government should review poor outcomes to determine whether DOCS caseworkers should be criminally investigated for malpractice. DOCS are just careless."
"They are so absorbed with returning children to their families that they don't give the child the right to protection, she said."
"It is such an obvious dereliction of duty. Somebody's head should roll."
Ms Goward said the prospect of punishment for caseworkers could provide better outcomes. - end quote -

Im sorry Clemens but I respectfully disagree.
This simplistic view that one person should carry the can is unworkable. Pru Goward really has a slippery and thin grip on the legislation and the situation but it demonstrates that she's looking for a headline.
In a toe to toe with Burney she failed miserably and showed that she doesnt have what it akes to get to the root of the problem. Katrina Hodgkinson was far better equipped to deal with the situation and should be moved back to the portfolio. She's being spared now as she is an ace in the hole with the Nationals.
Though the idea of Jenny Mason getting the rocket is timely and delicious given how she got the job in the first place!
In my view the entire 3 top echelons need to be transferred in a spontaneous combustive move, no paperwork shift, no shredding and definitely no advance warning. Lets see if these Labor lovers can cope elsewhere in the Public Service as they have delivered no service to the CHILDREN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT! Employ real achievers form other depts and pay them double to re-evaluate the work done already and if they fail sack them. Nothing like an incentive.
Only with the remopval of the entire top 3 echelons is there any possibility of change. One person leaving is a token lamb for the slaughter, but a systemic and dramatic shift of the hierarchy knowing that their heads are on the chopping block might work.
If they put me in charge for a day Id be installing survelliance equipment into every DoCS office- it would pay for itself in no time! The notion of relentlessly pursuing false positives on manufactured evidence would stop in a heartbeat and the real work of actual child protection instead of behind covering could begin.

I think the original issues that brought about the removal of children from their parents has become overlooked within the papertrail chain that DoCS are working through. I would like to see DoCS Caseworkers held accountable for their actions as individuals, but I do agree that the top 3 echelons need to be removed and adjusted. I too believe that DoCS workers should be under surveilance cameras(!). Also, why can't cameras be used to monitor parents for a couple of months, rather than the drastic removal of children, who in quite a number of cases should never have been removed? It would also show which parents are looking after their children and which parents aren't (and also monitor foster-carers)? This would be cheaper than the money that is wasted on legal costs at court and would be less traumatic to parents and children who have been separated on assumptions surely?

DoCs are not just careless... THEY ARE WRECKLESS ... They are buried deep in an Authoratarian style of government culture that dates back to The Old Bailey ... Early Eighteen Hundreds.
I would like to know the case workers managers ,managers name, the one that sits at her desk under immunity calling all the negligent shots from behind her mask. Has anyone ever asked her name and then recieved it ??????????
THE MANAGERS MANAGER who are you and why won't you send our children home to thier STATE OF Origin and to thier maternal family , why are you keeping them in the care of your employer >>>>> Abusive Fostercarer... in another state far far away from every family member they have. Why is the NSW Government paying airfairs and accommadation to maternal family members , why are they are paying for the abusive Fostercarer to have counsilling on how to treat our children???????
Why are our children carved up into three agencies and with three seperate carers and ten case workers. Why can't our siblings be brought together for quality time more than five times a years. Why have you destroyed thier sibling relationships???
Why have you stripped them of thier sibling " RIGHTS " to see each other.....
Will Pru Goward hear our serious concerns ????????
Will Kevin Rudd step in and and help the neglected children of the DoCs regime ...as in I'm Kevin ... And i'm here to help ...Yeah Right ...
