Direct Democracy is a concept often raised in the discussion of the adequacy or otherwise of the democratic processes of government. The idea, that the polity may regain the franchise especially because of advances in computer and networking technologies, is appealing and appears to be achievable even today providing there is the political will. This Direct Democracy forum may play some role in furthering that discussion.

The Middle East (or, formerly more common, the Near East) is a region that spans southwestern Asia and northeastern Africa. It has no clear boundaries, often used as a synonym to Near East, in opposition to Far East. The term "Middle East" was popularized around 1900 in the United Kingdom[citation needed]. The corresponding adjective to Middle East is Middle-Eastern and the derived noun is Middle-Easterner. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East

South Asia, also known as Southern Asia, is a southern region of the Asian continent, which comprises the sub-Himalayan countries and, for some authorities (see below), also includes the adjoining countries on the west and the east. It is surrounded (clockwise, from west to east) by Western Asia, Central Asia, Eastern Asia, and Southeastern Asia. South Asia typically consists of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and British Indian Ocean Territory. Some definitions may also include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Tibet, and Iran. South Asia is home to around a fifth of world population. The region has often seen conflicts and political instability, including wars between the region's two nuclear-armed states, Pakistan and India. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Asia
