Update for 31/08/2008

Hello all,
The ball is starting to roll; The new association will be called 'National Road Freighters Association'.
We are planning to hold the inaugural meeting in Toowoomba on the 2nd of November2008 at the Toowoomba City Golf Club at 10am everyone is welcome.
The newly appointed board will be endorsed at that meeting, we still need two delegates from W.A., S.A., Tas, and one from N.T. we have a good cross section of directors and the National executive is now in place.
They are, Kevin M Pattel,(Mick)( National President), Tom Desmond, (National Vice President), Sheridan Steinohrt (National Secretary), Peter Whytcross,(National Treasurer) Terrie Bradley, (Director) Donny Smith, (Director) Darryl Pederson (Director) Willie Davis,(Qld Delegate) Jimmy Oliver, (Qld Delegate) Rick Finning,(Vic Delegate ) Russell Borchard, (Vic Delegate) Leo Fardell, (NSW Delegate) Leeroy Shuttleworth (NSW Delegate) Wendy Georgetti-Remkes (N.T. Delegate) and of cause we can’t forget the wonderful Clare Mildren consultant to the Association.
Clare has been working on the registration of the new association and will be doing the ground work in conjunction with myself and the board in organising a new website, designing a letterhead, slogan and Logo, setting up the new bank account, and drawing up the new membership forms.
Membership will be our main focus in the early stages and the fee for full membership will be set at $100.00 per person per year, everyone will be a Membership Director, I am considering an award for the person who introduces the most members in a calendar year, and this will be awarded each year, we will also be planning to market merchandise using the association name and logo as a means of raising money for the development and fighting fund, donations to the association will be most welcome.
The 'National Road Freighters Association’ will be bound by a set of ‘Core Principals’ that will protect it against any attempt to hi-jack the direction and the intent of why it was formed in the first place, these will be set in concrete from the beginning and will ensure that we stay a grass roots organisation.
There is a lot to do and I will inform you of all the other areas we will be involved in at a later stage, the most important thing to remember is that the National Road Freighters Association will exist purely for the benefit of the road transport industry, we must never lose sight of that fact.
Until next time
Drive safely

I will be surprised if this

I will be surprised if this new association lasts more than 6 months. I wonder if any pockets will be lined with the membership fees. Just get out and work hard and forget all this stupid rubbish.

Sad Attitude

Firstly let me say it is easy to hide behind the anonymous tag and make negative comments, however your attitude is indicative of the scepticism about people actually trying to do well for the benefit of the greater community, but you are right in being a sceptic as the other associations appear to be in it for the money, and I feel that your concern is justified.
What we want are more honest people like yourself putting your hand up to become involved in the new association, then it might have a chance of being a success, to sit and criticize is easy, to make it work, that is the hard part, at least give it a try.

WE MUST STICK TOGETHER

So far so good Mick , it sounds really good. Ordinary people have got to fight back or we will be squashed, depressed and exterminated by extremists in governments and unions.
We farmers must form new grass roots organisations to survive. There are a lot of terrible people in powerful positions in this country at the moment.
Huge lies have been told while they have kept us in a permanent state of fear - it has to stop - we will take out power back.

Must fight this extraordinary and dangerous bureaucracy.

For those of you who are wary of yet another body in this fractured industry.  As a relative newcomer to the industry, I have nothing but contempt for the Queensland bureacracy and their zealotry and along with SA and NSW, seem intent on wiping out the entire trucking population! This new Diary takes the cake.  No other country has such childish and onerous legislation.  Misinformation seems rife amongst police, RTA and Police thunder up and down the highways like demented parrots, flashing colours (usually red and blue), puffed up feathers and a whole lot of squawking - trying to "catch out a truckie today"  and of course, make money for their coffers.  Speed and fatigue is their catchcry.  How can anybody speed on their roads, they are appalling and why no one has yet sued the Qld. govt for criminal negligence beats me.   Fatigue?   Gentlemen (and ladies) of the the trucking industry, are, actually, adults, and responsible truckies, as they are, know when they are tired.  So, they pull over and have a sleep.  10 minutes (the "nanny nap" is more effective than sometimes, 7 hours sleep - fact, straight from the US military research - find it on the Web).  This is what this Association is about, and Good Luck!!  Fight this constant erosion of common sense, Bureacracy in this Country is now at a point where it is downright dangerous, heading very fast for total dictatorship.  Truckies are easy targets - strange how they don't target the pilots - take a look at what they do re hours and rest periods - and they are dragging 420 plus human beings along behind them! So, folks, had my say and I am with NRFA - fight back now, before its too late.Cheers and once again,  Good Luck.
