Three months ago, my son made an inappropriate comment at school. He is 5, and was playing in the playground with other little children. Someone over heard the comment, and reported it to someone else who reported it to the teacher, and then she reported it to DCP. They went to the school and interviewed my son, and then came and saw me the next day. I did not hear anything from the school. Three weeks later he was put in a room with two police officers for two hours, and then DCP asked to interview my other son. I told them they could if they allowed a responsible person in with them. The next week I asked them if they were ready to interview him, and they said no. The very next day they went to the school and interviewed him. Then they interviewed my other children at school. Then they ignored me for six weeks. I was told I had to keep the children from their father, and they wouldn't even return my calls. Then out of the blue, they call me again to remind me that the 'investigation' is still ongoing. I finally get a little tougher, and they pull their finger out and tell me that they are waiting for the police to get back to them. Then the police interview the children's father, he tells them to take a running jump - if they have spoken to five of his children and no one has said anything, then they have nothing - then the police go, oh ok, we are done. No charges. No apology. I am still waiting to hear back from DCP what they are going to do. Meanwhile, this has been going on for over three months. If you have something, you have it. It shouldn't take seven interviews weeks of non communicating and false answers to get to the truth. This department needs to start taking care of families. I know there are poor children out there who need the support of this agency, but they are ruining families. Who is going to look after the children of innocent families, when they are torn apart by this agency's inadequate care?
