Hi all,
On Saturday 19th July I will be travelling to Brisbane to meet with the State Transport Minister John Mickel, at 10.30am to discuss the shutdown and the changes the Government needs to address to avert this action.
I will then be meeting at 1pm with TWU Secretary Hughie Williams to find a way to work together for the good of the industry.
I will report on the outcome on my return
REPORT FROM DARRYL BROWN VIC Delegate
We are set for tomorrow morning 917/07/08) for a news report on television with Greg Symes, Rick and myself along with Damian Drum who is a local National party member, Damian and I will possibly be doing a radio session of 15-30minute's next Tuesday, Damians office is also going to help us with a 'letter to the editor' campaign, they will give us about thirty different draft letters which I will the send to various operators who in turn will
send to their local papers.
I got the bumper stickers thank you very much, at the speed the first lot went I'm sure this lot won't last long.
I got Ricky to distribute a number of the demands with a covering letter about the proposed action on Tuesday of this week and I have lost count of the calls I have had in relation to that so we may do some more of them as well.
all the best
DARRYL BROWN.
Until next time
Regards
Mick Pattel

We are small farmers and fully support the stand down. The endless deluge of government regulations is killing us and it has to stop. The government and big corporations will play the divide and conquer rule so we will stand with you completely. I heard on ABC radio that the Trucking Association of Australia head man said truckies should not stand down but increase their freight charges......that is squash us.
Thank you so much
To Von Curtis,
It would seem that none of our associations are on our side and are too close to Government and out of touch, we need to make sure that we address that problem both in the transport industry and the rural sector when this shutdown is all over.
Since I started this shutdown our transport associations have come out attacking me, it appears they know now that they have been caught out.
Thanks for your support
Mick Pattel
Cattle producer from nsw behind all you drivers 100 percent. got to do somthing to make these govt no hopers sit up and take notice. Also sick to death of increased red tape and costs to living & producing enough to survive. Seems the only people making money are the giant supermarket retailers. Dont know what will happen when kevin introduces his carbon tax. Willing to suport any way possible if the sutdown dosn,t work willing to drive my truck anywhere to blockade these city,s. You got to get serious & stand up & be counted the same as the euorpean truck drivers seems to work for them.
I am a small operator running a couple of B Doubles west and would like to praise and thank the organisers for the work they have done on behalf of our industry. They have achieved more in a few weeks towards getting our dire situation recognised and highlighting the lack of government respect for our industry and other rural communities than any other industry organisation has done ever for us. I am looking forward to the response from the meeting with Mr Williams (TWU) as to whether he is supporting our stand and taking on board the message or whether he is keeping his head up his **** and supporting the Government further screwing over the transport sector. I am pleased to announce that we have had nothing but praise and 100% support from our customers that will be inconvenienced by our last option position. The message is clear to the Government, it is time to listen the support for a common sense approach is coming from well outside the transport industry. End the arrogance and fix it.
