Update Report No 6 26/07/2008

Hi Everyone,
The last couple of days have been very eventful with threats of being charged as a terrorist and threat of legal action from transport and commercial businesses for damage occasioned by the ‘Industrial action’ as it is called by the author of the pro-forma letter on company letter heads, the letter originated from the same source and it’s not hard to work out where it came from.
The level of threats are now reaching a serious point and did have me considering calling the shutdown off, after a call to a Q.C. we have been informed that the claims would have no substance and therefore should not be taken seriously.
Saturday saw us get a meeting with Alan Davey the Assistant Commissioner of Qld Police, the Chief Superintendent of Police and The Executive Director of Qld Transport Judy Oswin, this was a productive meeting in terms of establishing our credentials with these people, we also made it quite clear that we are in no way connected with ALDODA or Peter Schuback, we also support any action the police take in dealing with a rogue element what break the law in the name of the shutdown, they informed us they would arrest the people involved and confiscate their equipment.
We were interviewed by channel Seven & Nine at the Roma Street Police Station, unfortunately the interview didn’t make it onto the news in Queensland however it was seen in Victoria, we were told it would be streamed into Melbourne and it seems that we may see it here tomorrow, time will tell.
The next media will be on Monday and by then we will be in shutdown mode, it’s anyone’s guess if we will see national coverage, I must congratulate Clare Mildren for her wonderful input and she is a wealth of knowledge.
The next update will be on Monday night,

Facing up to Reality

Queensland Treasurer Andrew Frazer said on ABC radio this morning that he hopes the government can reach a compromise with striking truckies as the Q'ld economy relies on freight being moved and a two week shut down would have a big impact on the State.

Gosh it takes a long time for some people to wake up that there is a problem.

Australians have always believed in a fair go - small operators ,farmers and small business have been stood on, controlled and bullied by the big end of town for too long - its high time we stood up, are noticed and listened to. We have got to get our democracy back or I hate to think what Australia will look like in a few years.

Transport Industry Shutdown

Well done mick,we are behind you all the way,let us know who the threats were from and we can shame them publicly.Keep up the good work,we wont roll over like mongrel dogs.If anything,ALDODA must be disbanded(dismembered)before they do anymore harm.

Re: Shutdown and threats

Keep it up Mick,

Most carriers I know in Dubbo was parking up regardless.

I would just like to say that I have sent a couple of letters, one condemning the government for threatening you, to over 100 politicians and other associated peoples to road transport authorities.

i have informed our local radio person, Leo DeKroo, off the record of course, and he was shocked too.

We cannot back down, not over these fatigue laws and massive rego hikes.

We must stay united. Good on you Mick for starting all of this off and for keeping the momentum going.

Thankyou Mick, I was

Thankyou Mick,
I was wondering if you could put it to Williams and the Twu
if wharfies and forkys were subjected to the same laws would they feel differently about supporting us.Also have they put it to a vote amongst there members to support us or not.If they have it is high time that drivers had there own union. One good thing to come out of this is the public
(now there buisnesses are affected}are starting to ask questions,I have to say anyone that I have talked to are appalled at what we are having to put up with and are being very supportive. If we do not back down we will win this.Cheers.
